##Use DATABASE

Globalization! This single word changed the world. The successful companies do not operate locally anymore. They are spreading all around the world. So, there is a difficult choice left for the small companies: “Adapt or Die”. I hope that you are willing to do everything to keep your company alive. There is something that has relieved the burden of the companies. It’s called a DATABASE.

.

The Database organizes the data. What data? Well, all the information about your company and its operation can be put together in a database. For example, you may record information about your employers, suppliers, distributers, owners, investors, customers etc. No more papers on the desk and the floor. With database you can access the data very fast and easy. A well designed database helps you find and see data in ways that will help you to make profitable decisions. There are many advantages of using a database, like:

a) Secured Data Independence (details are protected and aren’t exposed to the public)

b) Efficient Data Access (data can be stored and retrieved without trouble)

c) Data Integrity and Security (for example, before inserting salary information for an employee, the DBMS checks the department budget not to be exceeded)

d) Concurrent Access (many users can instantly access the data with high speed, and thus they won’t even notice)

Many businesses are increasingly using databases to manage their customer relationships to increase both sales and customer satisfaction. The companies use it to write detailed background about thousands of customers, products and employees. A database helps them to make statistics too. They find out who are their most valuable regular costumers and reward them. Or, they detect the age, gender or occupation of the main costumers and then they focus more on their needs. There is only one database but it’s used by different kinds of people. The owner has more privileges than the employees or the customers. This means also that you can use the same database for sharing your operations online. All you need is a webpage and you will no longer be restricted to a single area.

.

There are many businesses that use database. A car insurance policy company can also benefit by using database. They easily register costumers and all the information about them. Later, after a year has passed, they start sending letters to their costumers reminding them it’s time to re-register their vehicles. A restaurant gets to know which of its waitresses has served more tables. Companies can monitor what happens on operations, and then they can take quick and appropriate steps if a problem occurs. Suppose that rapid sales have incurred. What has this to do with database? Well, the financial division may quickly calculate the losses and profits to help management in deciding whether to purchase raw materials, increase production and so forth. Listing customers by address, surname, or even by profit is very easy to do with database. Another usage is to calculate cost, price, gain, taxes, discount, etc. Contacting or emailing your customers can be done minutes. Deleting duplicate consumer records can help a lot in a business with many customers. As a business, the more you know about your customers, suppliers and competitors, the better. Therefore, the gathering, storing and processing of information using databases can give you a distinct advantage.

Databases are great at dealing with large amounts of data that need to be searched, sorted, or regularly updated. Combined with SQL they allow you to get the answers you want in the order you want. And more importantly, databases are accurate and fast. Thus, is there any reason for a business not to use them? If you cannot still answer this, then ask yourself: “Do I want to be more efficient?”
